1987

My first job after Canterbury Art College was at DaGama, a video and design company. The 12-hour days were tough but exciting, and I learnt how to create artwork.

I planned to go solo after a year, but DaGama closed down within six months. The owners wanted me to keep working for their new company, X=X, but that ended when James and John went their own ways. John Waller from Phonogram Records invited me to visit during my last week at DaGama, starting a long, successful relationship. For the next few years, I focused on designing sleeves until 1991 and the BRIT Awards.
